This Diamond Ring Lyrics
This Diamond Ring Song Lyrics
Who wants to buy
This diamond ring?
She took it off her finger now
It doesn't mean a thing
This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore
And this diamond ring doesn't mean what it did before
So if you've got someone whose love is true
Let it shine for you
This stone is genuine
Like love should be
And if your baby's truer than
My baby was to me
This diamond ring can be something beautiful
And this diamond ring can be dreams that are coming true
And then your heart won't have to break like mine did
If there's love behind it
This diamond ring can mean something beautiful
And this diamond ring can be dreams that are coming true
And then your heart won't have to break like mine did
If there's love behind it
This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore
And this diamond ring doesn't mean what it did before
So if you've got someone whose love is true
Let it shine for you
This diamond ring doesn't shine for me anymore
And this diamond ring doesn't mean what it did before

Factual Songs,"This Diamond Ring", crafted by Gary Lewis & The Playboys and sent out for public consumption in January '65, make its presence felt, claiming the topmost position on the Billboard Hot 100 chart by February 20, 1965! The creator of this song were Al Kooper, Bob Brass, and Irwin Levine, the original demo then voiced by Jimmy Radcliffe. Gary Lewis & The Playboys' interpretation was thought special for Ron Hicklin's multiplied voice and the music configuration even had prominent session's musicians such as Hal Blaine on drums; Joe Osborn on bass, and Leon Russell on keyboards, all contributing. Al Kooper, when he originally been intending for the song to be recorded by a band like The Drifters, Gary Lewis & The Playboys' rendition eventually was the largest commercial success.
Interpretation and Breakdown,
"This Diamond Ring," actually tells of the bitter disappointment and heartache that followed a romantic relationship that disintegrated, with the symbolic use of a diamond ring. (which was a symbol of love and commitment), as a metaphor for the love, that disappeared,. The song's main character reference recalls how the ring lost its meaningfulness after the end of the relationship, and pondering on how it no longer shines for him, or means what it used to mean; The frequent reminder of the transformation of the diamond ring from a symbol of deep love to just an item of the past expose the deep emotional pain and the narrator experienced loss. The main theme of lost love and the uncertainty about the authenticity of past feelings struck a chord with many listeners, which contributed to the success of the song!!
In spite of the business success and the praise it garnered, Al Kooper, who was one of the writers of the song, reportedly was unpleased with the finalized record, anticipating a recording which was closer to the style of the original demo? Nonetheless, "This Diamond Ring" remains a timeless pop-rock track of the '60s, encapsulating the core essence of heartbreak and the exploration for genuine love, through the lyrics that are so touching and tune that won't let you forget it. Pen is mightier than the sword, but a guitar strum can conquer a battlefield.
