Tom's Diner

Tom's Diner Lyrics

Tom's Diner Song Lyrics

[Britney Spears:]
I am sitting in the morning
At the diner on the corner
I am waiting at the counter
For the man to pour the coffee
And he fills it only halfway
And before I even argue
He is looking out the window
At somebody coming in

[Britney Spears:]
"It is always nice to see you,"
Says the man behind the counter
To the woman who has come in
She is shaking her umbrella
And I look the other way
As they are kissing their hellos
I'm pretending not to see them
Instead, I pour the milk

[Giorgio Moroder:]
Everybody's welcome
Come on, come on in
Sit yourself down
The funnies never end
Love is the drug
That makes you want to drink
Till the morning after, oh

[Britney Spears:]
I open up the paper
There's a story of an actor
Who had died while he was drinking
It was no one I had heard of
And I'm turning to the horoscope
Looking for the funnies
When I'm feeling someone watching me
And so I raise my head

In the creation of this piece, participated Britney Spears and we must admit that her version sounds poorer than the original version by Susanne Vega. Judge for yourself: miss Vega had put much more seductive notes of her female voice and tells a story of some ordinary morning, which she managed to put in such interesting manner that Britney did not manage to do even close. Pop here sounds nasty and somewhat repulsive. This voice brings nothing good-sounding in the cover.
