Surrender Lyrics

Surrender Song Lyrics

When I first got here, I defined my way
But the end of the days were dark
When I was not clear, you showed me my mistakes
But told me keep the pace, don’t get lost
So I shall not fear, yeah
That’s how it feels when you love me
And you’re my sightseer
‘Cause before I’m in a rut
You multiply by 10 times what they took from me

You send out a branch from the longest tree
When I’m in quicksand
But in my mind it’s really your arm to me
Can’t believe it, what a lift and

Hard to believe (Surrender!)
But there’s a difference (Surrender!)
I surrender (Surrender!)
‘Cause I understand
Explain to me (Surrender!)
There’s no coincidence
Just confirmation
Let me see them hands

Do you remember the question “how I feel?”
I asked you were you real at all
And when you entered, you found the biggest wall
Said “is that all?” Made it fall
With your wonder, it blows my mind how you love me
So it’s no wonder, I feel how I feel
I can’t thank you enough for what you did for me

You send out a branch from the longest tree
When I’m in quicksand
But in my mind it’s really your arm to me
Can’t believe it, what a lift and

Hard to believe (Surrender!)
But there’s a difference (Surrender!)
I surrender (Surrender!)
‘Cause I understand
Explain to me (Surrender!)
There’s no coincidence
Just confirmation
Let me see them hands

I was down on myself, and I called you
And your answer is “What can I do?”
So much you do for me
In the sound of my breath seen all the years of surrender
Just know I’m here reporting for duty

When it feel this good
Don’t ever let go, go
Don’t ever let go, oh
Don’t ever let go, oh
When it feel this good
Don’t ever let go, go
Don’t ever let go, oh
Don’t ever let go, oh

Please, just wave
Wave, wave
In this place
Wave, wave
Wave your hands
Wave, wave

The last in the alphabetical order but not least. It is performed by Lalah Hathaway and it lasts for 3:36. It sounds as RnB, but actually, it is not so rhythmical, as the genre supposes. It is rather a mixture of the genres and, in addition to already mentioned R’n’B, it embraces the gospel, slight tint of rock, lots of pop, hints of rap, blues, and funk. It is hard to imagine that these could be mixed, but in fact, it is easy, on the other hand. As when people sing RnB from the heart, opening the soul and making own feelings naked, denudated, it should sound exactly like this.
The performer, Lalah Hathaway has nothing in common to Ann Hathaway, the actress. We don’t presume that Eulaulah Donyll Hathaway (the real name of Lalah Hathaway) is connected to her, absolutely inconsistent person in the outward appearance. Mrs. Lalah characterizes herself as the jazz, soul, and gospel singer, but in this song, we didn’t hear the first two elements. Maybe we were mistaken, who knows.
Okay, Mrs. Lalah has received Grammy and she has a pretty face. That is not all her accomplishments. She has her own site, accounts on Twitter, Facebook and she is making a tour (which began at 8th month and is going to end at the 11th month of this year). On her site, you can see some of her clips and read what she thinks of herself (the text is written from the first face).
As for this song, it has extensive lyrics and it makes you want to feel that you are capable of great accomplishments. When studying the lyrics of it, it is possible to think that she tells in the song about the support that God gave to her, while it is also possible to think that she received the strengths from a supportive friend, of human kind. During the singing, she tries to unveil the transitions happening in her soul between the temptation to surrender and cease doing the things that she was doing up to this moment, and the desire to stand, to live through the hard times to reach the purposeful goal. She sees the love towards her and it blows her mind. Sometimes she feels as a quicksand. Sometimes she has nothing in her hands. Other times she hardly breathes, but when she recalls the years of surrender that were in her life, she hesitates whether surrendering was the right decision and whether it will be the best decision now. In the end of the lines of lyrics, she tells ‘Don’t ever let go, oh,’ which may mean that she’s decided not to cease doing her business and come to an end this time. But she actually never tells the listeners about her decision, and we are all supposed to consider what line will a singer eventually take as the mainstream. We can only hope. But it is more in this song – it teaches us not to give up and even if you have hesitations, you must always remember that once you’ve given up, you will start the giving-up sequence in your life that will eventually overcome the desire to reach the stars, to seek, and to achieve. Which is very dangerous undertaking and can ruin your entire life. So don’t be lazy and always try to overcome the hardships.
