I See a Victory Lyrics

I See a Victory Song Lyrics

They'll call it a mystery
But we're gonna call it victory
We'll be writing history
It's gon' be victory
They'll be signs on top of signs
Just so you know the history
It's saying victory is with me

Oh let them laugh about it
Don't worry what the doubter's saying
Yes it's an uphill battle
But guess who else is playing
The next time ya'll in action
And the Ghost is in the room
Watch you work through the masses
You know that we've been used

Let go, let it be (let go, let it be)
No matter how deep (no matter how deep)
I swear just believe (I swear just believe)
You'll find victory (find your victory)

They'll call it a mystery
But we're gonna call it victory
We'll be writing history
It's gon' be victory
They'll be signs on top of signs
Just so you know the history
It's saying victory is with me

So I tallied all my losses
And I turned them into lessons
And what seemed to be less
I turned them into blessings
See, I'm not trying to lose you
But the Spirit is relentless
And when you let go, let Him use you
Then you can be a witness

Let go, let it be (let go, let it be)
No matter how deep (no matter how deep)
I swear just believe (I swear just believe)
You'll find victory (find your victory)

They'll call it a mystery
But we're gonna call it victory
We'll be writing history
It's gon' be victory
They'll be signs on top of signs
Just so you know the history
It's saying victory is with me

The Bible says you should pray for nothing
'Cause every week it's gon' be something
You know the devil can't wait to jump in
And complicate the things you trust in
But I know my foundation
Is solid and can take some hating
Prayer's gon' be on this space station
On the way to the master's apron

They'll call it a mystery
But we're gonna call it victory
We'll be writing history
It's gon' be victory
They'll be signs on top of signs
Just so you know the history
It's saying victory is with me

This is a gospel singer Kim Burrell, who is very ‘shaped,’ let’s put it this way, in her 44. She was born in Texas, in 1972 and she is an actual senior pastor in one of the churches. She calls herself as jazz gospel performer, but this song in front of us is pure gospel lasting 3 minutes 8 seconds. This is one of a few songs in this collection that have the lyrics ‘above the waist.’ At it is pretty inspiring also. It starts from the expressed opinion that there was some miracle happened, but what the people around call miracle is actually a victorious result of achievements and everyday’s struggle. They are receiving signs and there are many of them. It is a battle or a sophisticated game, in which everyone is involved, but if you win in it – you are a lucky bastard, but if you are a doubter and disbelieve in the accomplishment, there is no place for you in this area of life.
The next a singer tells that there is even a Ghost in the room. By the notion ‘Ghost,’ she obviously means the ‘Spirit’ or He, the God, who has descended from the skies to be present with the participants in this glorious moment, in this premise, to raise their spirit high.
The best part of the song starts right after – a singer tells that she tallied all the losses she had to turn them to the life lessons. And when it became particularly hard, she simply turned to faith not no lose the hope in tomorrow. The Spirit is close to her and to her beloved people. When and if someone goes away from her, she wishes him the best and so the Spirit was nearby this person, supportive in all his or her deeds. And if you let Him in your heart and let Him lead you, you may find that all your strivings aren’t effortless – you shall witness the victories that must accompany your way.
So what do we know about Kim Burrell – who is she, what else does she do except gospel singing? She is a bishop and her friends and close people sometimes compare her to Ella Fitzgerald. Maybe it is flattering to her voice abilities, but she is at least of the same skin color as Mrs. Ella was. She started singing when she was 1 y.o. only, in the gospel choir. The reason she was involved in the gospel singing at the first place is that she is a daughter of a preacher of one of Protestants confessions, the Church of God in Christ. No wonder she has a son named Christian – she is very devoted to her faith, as you can see. Amongst people that influenced her most, are Faith Evans & Beyoncé. As for the influence on the music world, it is way too insignificant – she has only two gospel albums, released in 1998 and 11 years later. Every song in them is praising Jesus and faith. She was once nominated for Grammy but didn’t receive it.
