The slow-evolving blues made by compelling Leonard Cohen, the creator of many fabulous pieces of songs. He sings about playing the broken banjo that is on the edge of the sea. He doesn’t know how & when it got here but somehow playing it is very important for him, he even tells twice about it at the beginning. He guesses that maybe this instrument fell off someone’s shoulder and it has been driven by the sea to this seashore some unknown time before. It is definitely an outspoken philosophic thing, but the essence of this allegory is not clear. We assume that every person must find the meaning. Reference: 'Banjo' by Leonard Cohen Songfacts

Banjo Song Lyrics

There’s something that I’m watching
Means a lot to me
It’s a broken banjo bobbing
On the dark infested sea
Don’t know how it got there
Maybe taken by the wave
Off of someone’s shoulder
Or out of someone’s grave
It’s coming for me darling
No matter where I go
Its duty is to harm me
My duty is to know
There’s something that I’m watching
Means a lot to me
It’s a broken banjo bobbing
On the dark infested sea
