Love Is All Around lyrics by Sonny Curtis

Love Is All Around Song Lyrics

Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can take a nothing day, and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to fake it.
You can have the town, why don't you take it.
You're gonna make it after all
How will you make it on your own?
This world is awfully big
And girl this time your all alone
But it's time you started living
It's time you let someone else do some giving
Love is all around, no need to fake it.
You can have the town, why don't you take it.
You're gonna make it after all,
You're gonna make it after all
Your the one most likely to succeed
Just be sure to keep your head
Cause girl you know that's all you need
Everyone around you adores you
Don't give up the world is waiting for you
Love is all around, no need to waste it.
You can have the town, why don't you take it.
You're gonna make it after all,
You're gonna make it after all
Who can turn the world on with her smile?
Who can suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?
Well it's you girl, and you should know it
With each glance and every little movement you show it
Love is all around, no need to waste it.
You can have the town, why don't you take it.
You're gonna make it after all,
You're gonna make it after all

About

November, 11th 2016
This melody is mostly known because it was a musical sequence to the opening and closing credits of then-popular ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ in 1970ies. It was altered for several times, from original mostly soothing-gloomy tone to the uplifting, stating that the host of the show is going to lift up the mood of every viewer eventually. In 1970, the creator of the song, Sonny Curtis, did the dissimilar version of it as a separate single. The next version, also dissimilar, he did in 1980 to be included in his album. The latter version was made in the style of country, so he managed even to get into country charts in the US, which were not usual to him, as Sonny Curtis is not a country but mostly a pop singer (we aren’t saying ‘was,’ as he is still alive and as of the end of 2016, he is 79 and never announced of ceasing the singing activity).
In addition to being covered many times and not only on the English language, the song was lovely enough to be used as a soundtrack to the most heart-touching moments in several television shows and even documentaries.
The singer started his career singing together with Buddy Holly – a symbol of the music in 1950ies in the USA. He opened the concerto of then-young star Elvis, heating up the public. The ones of you who remember The Crickets band, organized by later deceased Mr. Holly, Sonny eventually became a lead singer in it. So, from 1957 till even 2004 – which means around 6 decades – he stayed in the band, never leaving it and did his best singles being a part of this singing collective. His best-known song for a lifetime is ‘I Fought the Law,’ which was covered and sung by many people since its origin. This song, Love Is All Around, as it seems, even not a half that popular as I Fought the Law. The latter was covered by such people/bands as the Grateful Dead, Roy Orbison, Bryan Adams, Bruce Springsteen, the Ramones, and Status Quo, while Colin Farrell was amongst the actors, during the starring in the movie.
Mr. Sonny Curtis released 7 solo albums during his creative life, during 1964-1987. As for the count of singles, they were much more in number – 23 during 1966-1986 years. But, unfortunately, none of them reached at least top 10. The best result showed only ‘Good Ol' Girls’ that topped at the #15 in the US. The worst was ‘My Way of Life’ reaching disgraceful 134th position.
This song may rather be attributed to pop genre, with great guitar notes underneath and tranquil string sounds. The lyrics are the ode to one person, who, apparently, can do a lot of pleasing things like turning the world on, make a day worthwhile, embrace all the love existing around without faking it. There are more things she can do – enlighten the town, succeed with everything she does. The soothing overall mood of the song leads to comprehension that today is gonna be a good day.
