Review
October, 24th 2016This is an endlessly heart-touching pop music clip that could even be named a mini-film. In it, an elderly man carries his terminally ill wife in their common house to give her the entire love he is capable for before she dies. She looks through the photographs of her family and their children while he makes her a hot tea, adding there a substance from smashed pills to mix it in the cup. Farther, we see how they are kissing before the forever goodbye. The clip ends with the realization she is gone forever. His face says goodbye to her.
The lyrics of the song pretty much underline the narration line of the clip: there is a small nice house built from the stone and there is much everything for the living. It is old, yes, but seems like it was their house for a long time and years have passed since they lived here before moving. The singer continues that it is a house where he feels like home. Some time ago, he built this home for both of them to live there and grow kids. On the site where the building is, there is a big old tree, which is as old as the protagonist himself. He climbed the tree using the cracks in its bark. After some time as he watched the earth and hills around, the gusts came and tried to make him fall from it. He was holding on the branches of the tree as tightly as the wife was holding on him. Along with his wife, they are going to turn in the dust in this small house, as it is a time arrived for them to discontinue their lives.
This song made by London-based The Cinematic Orchestra, a British nu-jazz & electronic music band. It was released in 2007 and since then, was used numerous times as the soundtrack to various television and film productions, including documentaries. It is so very smooth and tranquil as it was specifically designed to be a soundtrack. You know, there such songs that are destined to be the sound background to films more than other music. If to count only the things of which Wikipedia knows, there are more than 50 at all these almost 10 years since its emergence. As we suppose, its extensive use has brought more royalties to the singers The Cinematic Orchestra than any other of their songs did.
This band has 3 studio albums and 7 collective albums, consisting of remixes, covers, and other songs. They operate since 1999 and started their first year with the album ‘Motion’, which wasn’t rated in any music charts unlike their two next albums – in 2002 (‘Every Day’) and 2007 (‘Ma Fleur’). The latest one, ‘Ma Fleur’, embraced a song ‘To Build a Home’. Reference: Learn more about The Cinematic Orchestra
To Build a Home lyrics - The Cinematic Orchestra

To Build a Home Song Lyrics
There is a house built out of stone
Wooden floors, walls and window sills
Tables and chairs worn by all of the dust
This is a place where I don't feel alone
This is a place where I feel at home.
And I built a home
for you
for me
Until it disappeared
from me
from you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust........
Out in the garden where we planted the seeds
There is a tree as old as me
Branches were sewn by the color of green
Ground had arose and passed its knees
By the cracks of the skin I climbed to the top
I climbed the tree to see the world
When the gusts came around to blow me down
Held on as tightly as you held on me
Held on as tightly as you held on me......
And I built a home
for you
for me
Until it disappeared
from me
from you
And now, it's time to leave and turn to dust........
