Somebody Else Lyrics

Somebody Else Song Lyrics

So I heard you found somebody else
And at first I thought it was a lie
I took all my things that make sounds
The rest I can do without
I don't want your body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
I'm looking through you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
Come on baby
This ain't the last time that I'll see your face
Come on baby
You said you'd find someone to take my place
I just don't believe that you have got it in you 'cause
We are just gonna keep 'doin' it' and everytime
I start to believe in anything you're saying
I'm reminded that I should be getting over it
I don't want your body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
I'm looking through you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else
I don't want your body, I don't want your body
I don't want your body, I don't want your body
I don't want your body, I don't want your body
Get someone you love?
Get someone you need?
f**k that, get money
I can't give you my soul 'cause we're never alone
Get someone you love?
Get someone you need?
f**k that, get money
I can't give you my soul 'cause we're never alone
Get someone you love?
Get someone you need?
f**k that, get money
I can't give you my soul 'cause we're never alone
Get someone you love?
Get someone you need?
f**k that, get money
I can't give you my soul 'cause we're never alone
I don't want your body
But I hate to think about you with somebody else
Our love has gone cold
You're intertwining your soul with somebody else
I'm looking through you while you're looking through your phone
And then leaving with somebody else
No, I don't want your body
But I'm picturing your body with somebody else

Wow, it is extremely interesting video imbued with essence and philosophical issues of our imagination, mind, loneliness, togetherness, and the desire to be with anyone. The clip is much more vivid than the song. The song, made by The 1975, is an alternative rock song (in addition to alternative, this band produces also pop rock), in which even the most sophisticated user won’t find that deep meaning as in the video. So let’s analyze the lyric first, and then enhance them by the same analysis of the clip.
The lyric says he has lost his girl, who found the other guy. He wasn’t capable of believing it at first, but then he started to think deeper and eventually he realized it could be true. One of the reasons she left him was the fact he didn’t want her body – he only had the platonic relations with her, which he admitted in the song. He loved her soul. He understood he has decided to intertwine her fate and future destiny with some other guy and she left him. He can’t stand this. But not the fact of cheating itself, no. More than anything, he couldn’t stand the own picture in the head – as she is intertwined with bodies with some other guy. Further, he pictures in the imagination, as he would never let her go – as it seems impossible to forget her face, body, and soul. He expects this isn’t the last time he sees her – obviously, picturing the improbability of her break-up with him, he just cannot accept this fact yet. Then, he asks her many times, whether she really found a guy, who would support her in the love, who would need her as the soloist needs. But then he somehow is controversial to himself and says that he can’t give her his soul – why is that? And how do you think to make your girl back if you aren’t ready to give her your soul? There is no future in your potential relationship, we must admit.
In the video, at first, we see the long intro, where some thin guy enters an inhabitable and very not cozy room, where a girl sits, obviously high – she doesn’t make a move along several minutes of the intro. A guy is a poor entertainer, as it seems, as his face is covered with makeup like of a mime. He washes, takes a suitcase, gets dressed and leaves the apartment. Then we see him skating, he falls, hitting himself badly and further, he falls even lower – drinks heavily, get punched, sits in a car imagining himself with a fancy girl from a strip club. He is beaten up by some hooligans after he stares heavily at some girl in the company of those bad youngsters.
After the misadventures happen to him, he is left with the lip dissected from the punch in the face he received from one of the bad younglings and ends his evening in the car, drunk and relished.
In the very end of the clip, we see that the reason he stared at people throughout the clip, was the fact that he saw himself in different people – a girl, whom he stared in the premises of the night club, another girl in the night grill bar, a fellow, who kicked him in the face and even the stripper girl, whom he, as he supposed during the clip’s plotline, hooked up in the club to have intimacy with in his car.
This has huge parallels to the films like Matrix, Fight Club, and some others. Especially Fight Club – no doubts, this film has started the huge layer of other thinking, re-imagining the world, and the coolness of the main character, who ended himself in the big blast of the hand-made bombs. Many of such crybabies like the soloist here would love to be like Edward Norton’s + Brad Pitt’s main character, after this film’s emergence.
It eventually has ended in the alternative finale: he was left drunk and relished from the act of self-enjoyment on the backseat of an own car. Nice re-imagining, yeah?
