Have you ever heard of Birdy, the British singer? We haven’t. But it did not prevent her to have already three studio albums, starting from the age of 12. Birdy differs with escalated names in her family. Her father was named Rupert Oliver Benjamin van den Bogaerde, the mother’s name the Hon. Sophie Roper-Curzon and she is named even more tangled: Jasmine Lucilla Elizabeth Jennifer van den Bogaerde. Whooh! Her grandfather’s name was Captain John Christopher Ingram Roper-Curzon and that’s not all – in her blood, there is a mix of Scottish, Flemish, English, and Dutch blood. As you can guess by her blood, this girl was extremely well educated and was playing the piano from 7, making up her own songs from 8 y.o.
What is interesting about the clip – is that she never really smiles in the frame, as her teeth supposedly have the brackets installed. But this is not obvious, as we already told – she never smiles, we couldn’t see them. As for the voice – we wouldn’t also tell that she has the magnificent voice. Rather, it is fine, average girlish voice, on the 7 out of 10, if to consider it in professional manner.
It also seems like she attaches the own pseudonym to this song – she mentions birds several times, comparing her to this flying thing. Aside from the visual component, this song is about the feelings of a singer to her beloved person, when she represents herself as a bird, but she thinks her partner loves her strangeness, and they will be together even if she is too odd for this society. He has always loved the stranger inside of her, according to a singer. She is wounded, but she still wants to be loved and longs to him as her salvation.
What can we consider about this song piece? It is by a girl that is yet to grow up, as it is felt her lyrics absolutely not major yet. If to compare it to the voice of people from the streets, like who were bums, or experienced REAL life troubles, they would never write something like that, absolutely not deep. What actually she tells here? That she feels loneliness but that’s it – that is all her troubles. She never felt starved, she was never left without the roof above the head, she never soaked wet standing under the heavy cold rain, having no place to go. When she WILL experience these deprivations, her lyrics might become real, for all the audiences. Currently, it is for snobs and for 10-years old boys and girls, who also don’t know what real deprivation is, listening to this music in the cozy warm houses, drinking sweet marshmallow cocoa. That is our opinion; you may have your own. Yes, she has some awards by now, 5 pieces (two wins and another three nominations), received in 2012-2014, but it does not make her music real. Ugly, pretty, … – she doesn’t even sure what she looks like – how can the average listener be sure what does she sing about, if there is no sureness in anything from her side? Reference: More info
