Interestingly sounding smooth acoustic folk rock with several organically filled musical instruments, amongst which stand out the violin(s), percussion and the soothing voice. This work was recorded and re-recorded. The first time it was done by Australian Angus Stone, and later he was joined by his sister, which made a duo with the name Angus And Julia Stone.
So, what is remarkable here? First of all, this song has become the number 1 in the Australian hit-parades in 2010. Secondly, their album ‘Down the Way’ also took number 1 place and has eventually become gold with 35 thousand copies sold. Thirdly, based on it, a single named Take You Higher had been created by two deejays DJ Goodwill and Hook N Sling, who made it popular in Europe a year later. Several forthcoming mixes and covers, too, gained the places in the various hit parades, but they did not receive so much attention and high places as the original.
It is hard to understand, what has actually forced people to love this unsophisticated soothing song, as there are no bright text lines contained. A singer fell in love with some summer-smelling girl (she smelled with daisies) and he raised a desire to take this girl for a ride in the jet plane, kissing her and caressing her. Looks like they are planning to fly away from the bad things that are gonna happen. Or even generally, to fly away from themselves, imagining that the plane is somewhat a miracle that is capable of taking them away from who they are. It is all great if you are in love. But they forget one big thing – it is impossible to escape from oneself, no matter how fast your jet is.
A song, in addition to the fact that it was in many hit parades, also was included as a soundtrack to serial movies and the most wide known as of the time is ‘90210: New Generation’, which was the continuation of the well-known serial hit ‘90210’.
The band performing this song consists of a brother and a sister, who started the mutually beneficial musical cooperation in 2006, but still, time from time, they are engaged in the solo performances, the same as it was originally with this song – it was recorded by a brother and included in his solo album a year before being re-released in their mutual album. The same as a sister did without brother – she released an own album. These siblings are the continuations of the folk singing dynasty – as their parent were soul singers before they were born. Probably, such love to the music sits deeply in the genes. 2010 was the year of big breakthrough for siblings – they were awarded five times in their homeland as the best performers of the year, best song, best album, best alternative, and best cover. Catherine, their third sister, didn’t want to be included in the singing project (they were twins with Julia, born on the same day) and two years older that their brother. Now their parents are divorced and seem like they were united mostly by music in youth, as in later years the mother of this singing sibling finished her career and began to make a boring career in finances, and now she is a CEO of a corporation.
