Tori Kelly has already been to our list performing something else, ‘Don't You Worry 'Bout a Thing’ song. This time she shows us the magnificent performance of the worldwide-known song originally written by the late Leonard Cohen. It is named ‘Hallelujah’'. This is not as sparkling and dazzling as it was in the versions of Jon Bon Jovi and in the version made for 'Shrek' animated movie, but it's also pretty diversified and attracts the attention.
Once we've heard this song, we have added it to our favorites in the Firefox. Despite the absolute dignity with which Tori Kelly performs this immortal thing, we would love to point at some pros and cons in her performance.
Let's start with the cons.
The first thing is that she performs greatly only one couplet of several of this song written by Leonard Cohen. All the rest of it was just the demonstration of the powerfulness of her voice and the vocal abilities. Yes, lots of singers choose this song to show what are they capable of. But Tori Kelly surpassed them all in the showing up. It is absolutely not an attempt to say that she doesn't have the great voice. On the contrary, she has and she absolutely gorgeous, it touches right to the deepest caves in our hearts. So, this is her pro. But the song isn't intended only to show something to the eardrums of the listeners, even if you're capable of taking four octaves out of 5. The song is most of all about the essence that you would like your listeners to hear. She didn't do that as for example Leonard Cohen himself or Jon Bon Jovi did.
As for her pro – we must tell that it is already one of our favorite executions of at least first couplet of this song. Before she started to demonstrate her outstanding voice, we were perfectly immersed in the beauty and immortality of this creation. We're truly thankful that a person named Leonard Cohen existed on earth and was capable of giving us such beauty.
We also aware that Tori is not the first who tried the best in revealing what this song is able to give us if you have the outstanding vocal cords. As we have already told you at the beginning of year 2016 in one of the soundtracks on this site, that also used ‘Hallelujah’ song, no matter how great you do this, the version made by Jon Bon Jovi is absolutely the most perfect. It hasn’t been surpassed yet.
So what is so special about this song? Before it was made by Bon Jovi and Rufus Wainwright, people didn't actually pay much attention to the existence of it. Yes it is hard to admit but it was not that popular before the ‘Shrek’ movie's musical producers found it and brought it to the entire world. After that, it was signed by so many performers including Pentatonix that it's hard to tell whether Wikipedia knows at least a half of them. In addition to many covers, the bottom-line reason why it was actually selected by so many people to be sung, is because it has absolutely deep, philosophical, and outstanding lyrics in the terms of the wisdom, deepest understanding of human essential nature, it is bravely intertwined with the motives of religion, and a song also uses the incredible guitar approach entering our souls. Even if you have never heard the name of ‘Hallelujah’ song before, you should definitely recognize it by a few first seconds. Doesn't matter who sing – they all start with a similar sequence of the notes that are no least remarkable and memorable than for example, Christmas Carol.
