Carol Of The Bells Song Lyrics

Hark! how the bells
sweet silver bells
All seem to say
throw cares away.

Christmas is here
bringing good cheer
To young and old
meek and the bold

Ding, dong, ding, dong
that is their song,
With joyful ring
all caroling

One seems to hear
words of good cheer
From everywhere
filling the air

O, how they pound
raising the sound
Oer hill and dale
telling their tale

Gaily they ring
while people sing
Songs of good cheer
christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!

On, on they send
on without end
Their joyful tone
to every home

Hark! how the bells
sweet silver bells
All seem to say
throw cares away.

Christmas is here
bringing good cheer
To young and old
meek and the bold

Ding, dong, ding, dong
that is their song
With joyful ring
all caroling.

One seems to hear
words of good cheer
From everywhere
filling the air

O, how they pound
raising the sound
Oer hill and dale
telling their tale

Gaily they ring
while people sing
Songs of good cheer
christmas is here!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!
Merry, merry, merry, merry christmas!

On, on they send
on without end
Their joyful tone
to every home.

On, on they send
on without end
Their joyful tone
to every home.

The song "Carol of the Bells" is one of those that represent the season of Christmas. It has got great background and sentimental value. The original name of this piece, composed in 1916 by the Ukrainian composer Mykola Leontovych, was "Shchedryk" and was based on a traditional springtime Ukrainian folk chant. The theme of the piece changed in 1936, when Peter J. Wilhousky wrote English lyrics to it, relating it to Christmas and making it firmly a part of holiday traditions around the world.

A repeating four-note motif, the tune to the composition sets an atmosphere of urgency and promise—in the same manner one feels around the period of the Christmas holiday. It maintains the thrilling lyrics imparted by Wilhousky and uses the compelling melody of the song to draw a picture of joy and celebration, where bells ring to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. An inviting, dynamic arrangement allows the audience to become completely engrossed in the magic of the holiday, giving one a sense of joy, anticipation, and wonder.

Thus, "Carol of the Bells" credentials were increased throughout other Disney films in order to energize a plot with its evocative drive. Various versions of the song—from its classic interpretation in the 1940 animated film "Fantasia" to its frightening arrangement in "Home Alone"—have established the formulaic tone, ranging from delight and amazement to anticipation and tension. These interpretations, together with Disney's use of the song in commercials, have cemented "Carol of the Bells" as a classic, much-loved multigenerational favorite accepted for its perfect spirit of Christmas and full revitalizing essence of festive pleasure.
