TV show “The Steps”

All of you, who wrinkled their noses as soon as heard about new comedy TV show – remember that seeing familiar face on the screen is a half of success. New show ‘The Steps’ was written after a Netflix-week, and this fact makes it even more doomed for clichés. Its screenwriter was Robyn Harding if this name tells you anything about the show’s quality. Those who already watched this piece have noticed that you can follow the plot while holding your finger upon the button in case of switching off the channel if only there will something more exciting appears. All the prognoses are not very good just because the main pluses are well-known actors and the main point is “family only matters”.

All the characters are funny and dramatic – or meant to be funny and dramatic at the same time just if it was their last opportunity to show their talents. Here is the list of main actors:

Jeff is a son, who presents his life as a top of all possibilities but in fact all he is involved in is an endless inner battle. His sister Marla is an open-hearted girl but this openness makes her sleep with every guy who asks her to. Such behavior is somehow connected with her relations with the father and is a deep covered with mysteries secret from her childhood. As you can see these oversized children do not have great father-to-child relations so they wait for the worse when their daddy invites them to the lake for a vacation. The thing is he is a rich but a very neglectful person and he just finished building a house on this lake for his wife.

What is the further plot?

This sincere attempt to unite all family fails, as you can guess, but the other characters are not less charismatic. Father’s new wife already has four children left from previous marriages – three sons and one daughter, who is looking on the big interesting world with widely opened eyes and her only minus is in complete stupidity. But who is saint, huh? The main problem is retired parents, who gone absolutely mad and decided to adopt a Chinese girl as if they do not have enough children for two already. So the whole family must pretend they are very friendly, for the social worker. The plot is rather usual and it is still unknown what the producers are to rely on.

Producers convinced, by their own words that this history tries to unite people, which are so different despite being relatives. We cannot judge them for this, but we definitely can judge them for the movie they have made, especially according to the fact that little girl, who is meant to be adopted, would look better in a real drama than in a parody for it.
