There are several peculiarities about this Indie rock + electronic music performance by Clean Bandit band. The voice of Sean Paul sings more something like hip-hop and the voice of Grace Chatto sings something more the rock. At first, you see the female soloist, who resembles you much Drew Barrymore visually – the same body but even more – the same oval of the face and the facial structure. The second peculiar thing is the name itself – Rockabye. We understand that this word isn’t reserved for anyone particular, but before you get acquainted with this tune, you hope that this will be much better-known rock thing performed years ago by Shawn Mullins – Lullaby. The third is what do they do in the clip: they insert many dancing striptease girls on poles. Yes, they aren’t visibly undressed, but the idea is totally comprehensible, as they are undressed that much as it is allowed in the clip with no restrictions for the auditoriums of all ages. The next peculiar thing is the way they visually make us stick to this video – they change a lot of methods to make the frames go interestingly and smoothly, like dancing light twerk-like thing in the bar or singing the lines of the song destined by one person, by several people in the sequence. Okay, but even all these aren’t most peculiar elements. The thing is that this band was founded in Cambridge, England in 2009 – this means they are smart. And the essence of the tune’s lyrics here doesn’t match the filling of the video clip too much. While the clip is energetic and perky, the lyrics tell of love to a child, a baby, and this baby is the singer presumably when she tells she recalls a 6-years-old girl in the lines. So, let’s immerse into lyrics further. They tell of a single mom (particular one and all single mothers in general), who was left by her husband before the kid was born (or shortly after this) and she received help from no one, she earns during the night shifts, working on several jobs, one of them, as it follows, the striptease. She is frustrated and only wants the best for her kid. So she makes the daily attempts, the struggle to survive and raise a child. She loves an own child more than anything and that is why she sings him from time to time rockabye song. Eventually, when the chorus comes, she is singing to a child: ‘Rockabye-rocka-rocka-rocka-bye.’ The continuation of the song reveals her further love to a kid – now, six years have passed and she still loves a kid, warming him (or her) up, protecting from the cold. Then goes the repetition of what was already sung. The band Clean Bandit is famous with possession Grammy in 2015 (for their song ‘Rather Be’), which was named the best dancing song of the year. Despite the totally dancing way of their activity, the singers, as we have already tell, are smart and that is why they use some pieces of classical tunes like made by Shostakovich or Mozart (the involvement of the latter is emphasized in their ‘Mozart's House’ song). Besides Grace Chatto, there are also two brothers in the cast of members – Jack Patterson and Luke Patterson. Along with one win, the band has several other nominations for not so big music awards: BBC Music Awards, Brit Awards, and Billboard Music Awards. As for the general success of this band, we must admit they have extremely successful singles and albums. Thus, ‘Rather Be’ became 4xplatinum as of FIMI certification. The rest of certifications named this song gold or fewer times platinum. Other advantageous songs (certified gold/platinum), are ‘Extraordinary,’ ‘Real Love,’ ‘Stronger,’ and ‘Tears.’ Their album ‘New Eyes’ reached number 3 in UK's charts in 2014. More on Wikipedia
