McConaughey Becomes A Bad Boy
Matthew McConaughey catches his best luck for these times: he appears in so many movies we even wonder is there any he is not related to. But, as soon as he does it pretty well, we do not judge or complain. At least, new effective roles once again are better than a complete oblivion. The Dark Tower is going to be a new fascinating film adaptation of King’s novel and Matthew is going to play one of the main roles.
What role would it be?
Roland Deschain, also known as The Gunslinger, was an offered character for Matthew to play, but the conflict came from the unexpected side. It turned out that McConaughey desired to play the main villain’s role, whose name is Randall Flagg (or The Man In Black). There is even some information about failed casting for this role. We cannot imagine Matthew playing a bad guy but who knows? Every villain has his own deeply dramatic story – probably, it is just an opportunity to play different emotions.
What is the director’s point of view?
The director of this movie is Nikolaj Arcel, who also created a Swedish movie of A Girl With A Dragon Tattoo. The movie team is full of high-qualified specialists, who were working on the Amazing Spider-Man, A Beautiful Mind and lots others. The screenwriters are also focused on creating an amazingly detailed movie based on legendary saga about The Gunslighter and we absolutely cannot understand why this character is so unlikeable for Matthew, especially concerning the fact that every King’s character is not so simple and monosemantic.
The exclusiveness of the movie
The specialty is Stephen himself admitted he is interested in the project, what did not appear to happen for many years. King says that he can’t wait to see the final version and is even ready to help with working and opening some secrets about the creating of a plot if it will help actors or the team. The release date is planned for the January, 2017. Moreover, there are some unofficial talks about creating a TV series based on the plot. Its release depends on the commercial success of the upcoming movie, and we are still waiting for Matthew’s decision to be positive!
