For the first time in last 25 years, the legendary film and stage actress Barbra Streisand will present her movie. As we have already mentioned, 25 years ago, the world had seen the last film by her authorship. Now, it is time for the fourth. What will be the new picture like? Sources say that Barbra sights on something large-scale. Well, let's look at the preparations!

What is the film about?

Barbra Streisand plans to create a film about the literally great woman – Catherine the Great. Barbra was very excited about the Russian monarchy's history. Catherine, in her opinion, is a person who deserves to be presented in a big project. Streisand admitted that the only truly popular film about the Russian monarchy is a cartoon "Anastasia" which is full of mysticism. We remind you that the cartoon is about a princess of the Romanov House named Anastasia. The story is not based on true events, as existence of Anastasia has not been confirmed. Nevertheless, the popularity of a beautiful fairy tale inspired the creation of a new film. Catherine the Great was the significant figure in Russian state's history. For sure, the film is not going to be boring and only political. Catherine’s adulthood influenced on the formation of her character. She turned into the Empress, who was beloved by people, in spite of her origin. Barbra plans to show this woman on all her long and complicated way – from the German aristocracy to the Russian throne. Moreover, Streisand leaves pretty big role for palace intrigues. The film promises to be filled with smoky & juicy scenes.

The process of creating

“Who and when?” are the two main issues of fans’ concern. It is known that the casting has begun already. Nevertheless, not a single name was announced. But the crew is already chosen so as the future plot. The basis of it lies in the history written by famous writers in Hollywood. This scenario was marked as “having prospects” but nobody (except Streisand) wanted to undertake adaptation. It is also not known when the project will be finally brought into life. But if work has already begun, we expect the premiere in at least two years. Barbra is 73 now, but this impressive number does not prevent her from very energetic and active participation in the process. She has received plenty awards for all her successful career and now Barbra seriously hopes that this film will bring her some more.
